A Christian ministry on Roatán Island — free vocational training for every student, real homes built for families in need, 100% volunteer-operated.
We are a Christian 501(c)3 non-profit — fully volunteer-operated and entirely free for every student. Every dollar goes directly to training and building homes.
"We exist to bring new hope and new opportunities to the needy and unemployed of Roatán with expert training and the loving words and teachings of Jesus Christ."
"To develop a successful middle class of workers and entrepreneurs who strengthen their families and communities on Roatán, Honduras."
"Building a Better Honduras Together"
The theme drilled into every student, every volunteer, every classWhat started as a dream and a concrete slab has become a fully equipped vocational campus — and a homes-building ministry that changes families forever.
Roatán VoTec launched with a freshly poured concrete slab, a blue tarp for shade, and a conviction that the people of Roatán deserved expert training — free of charge. When the rains came in, students covered their tools and found a tree for shelter. Classes ran anyway.
The founding vision came through Pastor Travis Morin: build modular homes for families who have land but no structure to stand on it. Hearts for Homes was born in that first year.
In 2023 our construction students didn't just practice framing — they framed and finished the 24×24 ft office and classroom they now learn in. Every wall panel, every electrical run, every drywall sheet was a live class. The building that stood up was their graduation project.
The campus grew into a fully equipped vocational training center — air-conditioned classroom, hand tools and power tools, bilingual syllabi in English and Spanish. Courses expanded to include Housekeeping, Sewing & Textiles, and Outboard Motor Repair alongside the construction core. The first class of graduates launched their own businesses on the island.
February 2026: Mission Trip #10. The goal — a 20×20 ft home for Pastor Rosell's mother in the colonial area of Roatán. Students built the modular wall panels in Week 1. The missions team trucked them to the prepared foundation and raised the home in Week 2. The family moved in.
Hearts for Homes is now the defining program of Roatán VoTec — the moment where a skill learned in the classroom becomes a real wall standing over a real family.
"We need 6 homes — 16×20 feet — built for families who already have a parcel of land. Just not a home to stand on it."
— Pastor Travis Morin · Founding Vision
Every class follows the same three-part structure — grounded in faith, sharp on theory, proven by doing.
Each morning opens with a short teaching on workplace values — honesty, integrity, respect, timeliness. Not lectures; the framework woven through everything else we teach.
Every course has a bilingual syllabus — English and Spanish. Students learn to read plans, understand materials, and grasp the "why" before they ever pick up a tool. Classes run 8:30am–3:00pm with breakfast and lunch provided.
A stack of lumber. Real tools. Real instructors. Students don't simulate — they build. Construction produces actual wall panels; housekeeping students work resort-standard rooms; motor students work a real Yamaha engine.
Roatán VoTec operates in close partnership with the ministries and organizations already serving the Sandy Bay community.
The real measure of this ministry is what happens after graduation.
Bani shared his journey — from where he started to where the skills he earned at RVT took him. His testimony is a firsthand look at what free vocational training means for a family on Roatán.
